Why is Floating Growing in Popularity?

Floating has become increasingly popular worldwide, due to an influx of scientific studies on the subject - which have shown remarkable health benefits. People are now embracing floating as part of their regular health and wellness lifestyle.

It's an amazing way to relieve stress, recover from injuries, reduce chronic pain, lower blood pressure, and improve general wellbeing.

How does it work?

The zero gravity environment allows you to relax all the muscles & joints in your body, and the magnesium salt promotes the removal of lactic acid and increased blood flow. Floating stimulates the brain to secrete endorphins; pain killing, euphoria-creating substances known as the “body’s own opiates”.

Medical research has demonstrated that regular floating can significantly improve your mental state by sharply lowering the levels of bio chemicals directly related to stress, anxiety, tension and depression.

Float Philosophy Pod

Floating is something everybody needs to experience. Not only is it fun and profoundly relaxing - it is extremely good for your physical and mental health!

What do I need to bring?

Just yourself! We provide everything you need. You will not need a swimsuit, as the pod is located in a private room. We provide towels and ear buds, plus shampoo and soap for the shower. You may want to bring a brush/comb and your own products such as deodorant and lotions. Please stay away from strong fragrances in consideration of others. If you use contact lenses, please remember to bring something to store them in while you float.

What do I wear in the tank?

Nothing..! You can wear anything you want, however most people don’t wear anything while floating - and this is what we recommend. Swimsuits or other material against the body can become heavy with epsom salt and take away from your float experience.

What if I’m claustrophobic?

Being in the tank is more like floating in outer space than being shut in a box. You are in complete control of your environment and can leave the door open and lights on for as long as you like. Even people with extreme claustrophobia have reported having no problems during their time in the pod. Again, you’re in control.

How clean are the tanks?

Very! After each session, the entire body of water is drained and passed through several filters. A powerful pump and the very latest filtration technology are incorporated in the design of our float pods. The dual filters are fully effective to one micron - which is an incredible 100 times smaller than a human hair! The high epsom salt content and disinfectant ensures that nothing harmful can survive within the tank.

What if I can’t swim?

No problem. No swimming skills required. All you need to know is how to lay back and relax.  If you are able to do that in your bed at night, you are good to go.

What happens if I fall asleep? Can I Drown?

The high buoyancy of the salt water makes it impossible for you to sink beneath the surface. Once you are settled in the tank, you will only be able to touch the bottom with a great deal of effort.

Can I float if I am menstruating?

Of course. Just follow the same process you would for swimming.

Can I float if I’m pregnant?

Definitely, the float tank is wonderful for pregnant women! The extra weight carried by the mother-to-be can be very stressful due to the forces of gravity. Floating eliminates the negative effects of gravity which can cause joint pain, inflammation, and stress on the organs as well as the unborn baby. However, If you have any concerns about the effects of floating on your pregnancy, we ask you to consult your doctor before your session.

How many times should I float?

The more the better! Just like any activity, the more you practice the better you become, and the more cumulative effects you will see.

Should I let you know about my health condition?

Yes please. If you have a heart condition or wear a pacemaker, asthma, allergies (particularly to salt, bromine or magnesium), or very low blood pressure – we recommend that you seek approval from a doctor before floating. If you suffer from epilepsy or schizophrenia we’re sorry but you cannot float due to regulations. If you have an ear infection you should wait until it is cleared up and then make sure you use the earplugs provided.
